Since I've spent some time poking around on these systems I've been asked to put together a short guide. Here we'll start with some basics.

Gear:

most DoL gear overlap and if you plan on running leves I'd suggest you try and do at least 2 DoL at the same time to cut down on the running between town and your leve camp.

Now, the most well known secret is the sweetspot, every item has a spot on to aim at to increase the chances of getting what you are looking for, here I've adjusted the aim to +3 from the middle starting point (0) since that is the sweetspot for yew logs at Nophica's wells.

A good site to find the sweetspot and where to look for the items you need is http://disciplesoftheland.com/Maps.aspx

this video shows you the more advanced tricks of knowing your nodes, it's made for mining but if you watch it first then return to this post and I'll go over a couple of botany examples.

Ok, for now I'll stick with Nophica examples, if you need more feel free to ask and I'll add to this guide later.

In a nophica logging node you can find 4 things:
-3 Kukuru Bean
+1 Latex
+2 Yew Branch
+3 Yew Log

kukuru bean, latex and the branch are what the video call junk items, they all have the same approach bar but luckily enough latex and the branch share a hotspot.
aiming roughly here should get you latex or yew branch on the first swing if that is the item you have a chance of getting.

While Kukuru beans are found around this spot instead.

And here you have where to aim when as you can see the blue bar stretches beyond the h in approach which shows that you have a log waiting.
